Two American military veterans working alongside the U.S.- and Israeli-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) were hurt in an assault while distributing aid to residents of Gaza. The injured veterans are currently receiving medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. The GHF described these individuals as “highly decorated” veterans. The organization noted previous warnings about credible threats from Hamas, including specific intentions to target American and Palestinian aid workers, as well as the civilians dependent on their services for sustenance.
This latest attack, involving grenades, underscores those warnings. GHF remains dedicated to its mission of providing aid to the people of Gaza amid ongoing dangers. They expressed concern that the recent attack’s perpetrators, after throwing grenades filled with ball bearings, fled into a crowd. GHF’s Executive Chairman, Rev.
Johnnie Moore, indicated that the grenades were identified as Iranian-made, typically used by Hamas. Moore criticized how some media outlets and figures contribute to the propagation of Hamas narratives by misrepresenting GHF efforts. U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, condemned the violence, suggesting that well-intended efforts are often met with hostility from Hamas.

In a related statement, IDF’s Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani emphasized that terrorist organizations in Gaza, particularly Hamas, intentionally disrupt humanitarian aid distribution efforts. The IDF assisted in evacuating those injured for further medical care.
GHF criticized the global community’s lack of response to threats and violence faced by its workers, highlighting that warnings about these dangers went unheeded by both the international aid community and the media. They stressed that the silence surrounding these issues has emboldened groups like Hamas to attack aid workers. Recently, GHF disclosed that Hamas had placed bounties on the heads of both its American and Palestinian staff, offering financial incentives for causing harm. Since May, the foundation has provided approximately 60 million meals to those in need in Gaza, amid ongoing conflict and challenges.
